Department of Kashmiri, Department of History in collaboration with Debates and Seminar Committee, Govt. Degree College Soibugh organized Azmat-i-Qur’an Conference on 17th of March, 2025. The event served as a platform for showcasing the students’ talent and devotion to the Qur’an through various competitions, including Qirat, Naat, Speech, and Quiz. The programme commenced with the recitation of Al-Qur’an, setting a reverent tone for the day. The Principal Prof. Roohi Jan, in a moving speech, highlighted the significance of the Qur’an and its profound impact on our lives. She emphasized the Quran’s role as a source of guidance, wisdom, and moral compass for humanity. The Qirat competition saw a fierce display of skill and eloquence, with participants demonstrating their mastery of the Quranic recitation. Ishfaq Rashid Mir from semester 4th emerged as the winner, captivating the audience with his melodious voice and impeccable pronunciation. Shafaqat Nazir from semester 6th secored second place, showcasing impressive Quranic recitation. The Naat competition was equally captivating, with participants expressing their love and devotion to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) through soulful and heartfelt renditions. Gulzar Ahmad Malik from semester 6th bagged first place, captivating the audience with his melodious voice and heartfelt delivery. Ishfaq Rashid claimed second place, demonstrating his unique style and passion for Naat. Bilqees Nazir from semester 2nd took third place, showcasing her talent and devotion to the Prophet. The Speech competition witnessed a diverse range of topics, with participants eloquently expressing their thoughts and insights on the Quran’s teachings. Toiba Amin’s powerful delivery on the theme of the Quran’s message of peace and unity earned her the first position. Misbah Ashraf scored second place with her insightful speech on the Quran’s guidance on social justice, while Tajamul Khan took third place for his speech on the Quran’s importance in contemporary life. The Quiz competition tested the participants’ knowledge of the Quran, its history, and its teachings. The team Tanzeel, comprising Zeenat Rahman, Shafkat Nazir, and Muskan Hassan, triumphed over their competitors, demonstrating their profound understanding of the Quran and its diverse themes. The distinguished panel of judges for the Qirat, Naat, and Speech competitions included Dr. Wajahat Abdullah, Dr. Tariq Bashir Dar and Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Mir. Their expertise and insightful feedback ensured a fair and impartial evaluation of the participants’ performances. The Quiz competition was adjudicated by Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani, Dr. Osia Majid and Dr. Mudasir Mubarik. Their combined expertise and insightful questions ensured a challenging and engaging experience for the participants. Following the competitions, a prize distribution ceremony was held, where the winners of each competition were awarded certificates, trophies and Islamic books. The Azmat-i-Quran conference was a resounding success, not only in showcasing the students’ talent and devotion to the Quran but also in fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of its profound teachings. The event served as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Quran and its relevance in our contemporary world. The programme was compered by Dr. Mohd Shafi Mir, and the programme formally ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sameer Ahmad Bhat (Department of History).
